Apple Cinnamon & Walnuts Steel-cut Oats

May 30, 2020 | Recipes

Crunchy and cozy are words I can best use to describe this Apple Cinnamon & Walnut Steel-cut Oats recipe.

This apple cinnamon & walnut steel-cut oats is a “kick your feet up and relax” kind of recipe. The crunchiness of the walnuts mixed with the semi-crunchiness from the apples, topped with the cinnamon taste are just an amazing combo!

I typically prefer not to have add sugar in my meals, but since the diced apples does give it a sour taste (green apple even more which is used in this example), based on your preference of course, I’ve included maple syrup in this recipe. It is also dairy free and vegan.

Using a small cooking pot, add your 80 grams ( yields to 1/2 a cup) of steel-cut oats.

Add 8.5 fluid ounces of unsweetened almond milk. Then put the small cooking pot on med-low heat on the stove-top for 10 minutes or when it starts to boil.

Use this time to peal and dice 60 grams of an apple of your choice on a cutting board. FYI: A green apple will give it more of a sour flavor.

After the oats have started to boil, add 60 grams of diced apples and let it boil for another 5 minutes or until it is creamy when stirring.

Once stove is off, add 10 milliliters of Maple Syrup, 1/4 of a teaspoon of cinnamon, 1/4 of a teaspoon of nutmeg, and 1/4 of a teaspoon of ginger, and enjoy!
